New Google Storage Policy coming in July 2022

February 17, 2021

Today Google introduced a new storage policy that will eliminate the current unlimited storage option for education in July 2022. Because these changes are similar to those announced by Box last year, we will be taking a bigger picture look at the overall file storage and collaboration strategy for campus. Both Google and Box are funded as part of the Productivity Suite and any decisions about these service offerings will be a part of the ongoing governance conversation with campus partners.

In light of this announcement, we will reschedule and re-purpose our Monthly Box Service Changes Project Town Hall for February to Wednesday, February 24th at 1PM.  We will use that time to share what we currently know about Google’s changes and to solicit questions or concerns from the campus community.

Please see the Google and Box Service Changes site for more details. If you have additional questions, please contact us at storage-changes-team@lists.berkeley.edu.
