All expired accounts in Box will begin to be disabled on Sept. 14, 2022 as part of the Box lifecycle strategy and Service Level Agreement implemented earlier this year. Expired Box accounts occur when the account holder no longer has an affiliation with UC Berkeley. This means that customers may lose access to some content that has been shared with them by an expired account. Customers should follow the instructions included in their Box Collaborator Report if they need to retain access to content listed in the report.
All impacted customers will receive a Box Collaborator Report via email on Aug. 31. These reports:
-
Inform them of any collaborative content they are able to access that is owned by an expired Box account.
-
Include the future date on which they will lose access to the content shared with them from that expired account.
-
Provide steps they can take to retain access to the content if it is still needed.
The reports will be shared directly with each customer’s Box account, and they will receive an email when their report has been shared with them. The email will be titled “Box Administrator has invited you to work together in [your email address] Expiring Box Content Report”. The reports are regenerated monthly for convenience, and they will continue to be notified in the same way each time a new report is created.
